چکیده

Transportation sector is one of the major producers greenhouse gases which are responsible for climate change. Finding an appropriate emission estimation tool large-scale networks essential developing efficient mitigation strategies. This paper presents advanced version macroscopic fundamental diagram (e-MFD) improves stability and accuracy previous model. A bi-modal function applied to separate free-flow congested branches e-MFD. The proposed e-MFD evaluated with both a synthetic grid network real-world city-level network. study also assesses model’s under directional traffic demands road incidents. comparison original verifies superiority model higher accuracy. Standard deviation density used in boost performance. It worth mentioning standard can be recorded existing hardware, such as loop detectors, does not impose considerable computational complexity. employed measurement hierarchical control systems more homogeneous congestion distribution control.

Clockwise Hysteresis Loops in the Macroscopic Fundamental Diagram

A recent study reported that the Macroscopic Fundamental Diagram of a medium size city exhibited a clockwise hysteresis loop on a day in which a major disturbance caused many drivers to switch to unfamiliar routes. This paper shows that clockwise loops are to be expected when there are disturbances, especially if the disturbances cause a significant fraction of the drivers to not change routes ...

A three-dimensional macroscopic fundamental diagram for mixed bi-modal urban networks

Recent research has studied the existence and the properties of a macroscopic fundamental diagram (MFD) for large urban networks. The MFD should not be universally expected as high scatter or hysteresis might appear for some type of networks, like heterogeneous networks or freeways. In this paper, we investigate if aggregated relationships can describe the performance of urban bi-modal networks...

An analytical approximation for the macroscopic fundamental diagram of urban traffic

This paper shows that a macroscopic fundamental diagram (MFD) relating flow and average density must exist on any street with blocks of diverse widths and lengths, but no turns, even if all or some of the intersections are controlled by arbitrarily timed traffic signals. The timing patterns are assumed to be fixed in time. Exact expressions in terms of a shortest path recipe are given, both, fo...

Curvature Aware Fundamental Cycles

We present a graph algorithm to find fundamental cycles aligned with the principal curvature directions of a surface. Specifically, we use the tree-cotree decomposition of graphs embedded in manifolds, guided with edge weights, in order to produce these cycles. Our algorithm is very quick compared to existing methods, with a worst case running time of O(n logn + gn) where n is the number of fac...
